Prishtina to Prizren: Bus Times, Ticket Prices and Shared Rides
Almost every visitor to Kosovo makes the trip from Prishtina to Prizren, the old Ottoman-era town with a fortress, a stone bridge and a river running through it. It's about 80 km on the motorway and very easy to do by bus. The only thing to plan is the trip back.

Taking the bus
Buses leave from Prishtina's main bus station. Several companies run the route, so during the day there is usually one every 20–30 minutes and you can simply turn up. Look for "Prizren" on the windscreen and pay the driver or conductor when you board.
The bus arrives at Prizren bus station, on the edge of the centre. From there it's a short taxi ride or about a 20-minute walk to Shadërvan square and the old town.
Getting back: watch the last bus
This is where most people get caught out. The last bus from Prizren to Prishtina leaves around 19:45, earlier than you might expect, and the best part of a day in Prizren is watching the sunset from the fortress. If you want to stay for dinner, you have three options:
- Stay the night. Prizren deserves it, and you can carry on to Gjakova or Peja the next day.
- Take a shared ride. Search Prizren → Prishtina on RruGO for drivers heading back in the evening. If nothing is posted yet, set up a ride alert and you'll be notified when one appears.
- Taxi. Possible, but it costs many times more than the bus.
The shared ride option
Lots of people drive between Prishtina and Prizren every day. On RruGO the driver sets a price per seat to cover fuel, and you see it before you book. You pay the driver in cash when you ride, and RruGO takes no commission. Some rides have instant booking, so your seat is confirmed straight away. Others need the driver to approve your request first.
Because it's a car rather than a bus, you can message the driver to agree on a pickup point, which helps if you aren't staying near the bus station.
What to see in Prizren
- The fortress (Kalaja): a steep 20–30 minute walk up from the old town, with the best view in the city, especially at sunset.
- The Stone Bridge and Shadërvan: the heart of the old town, full of cafés along the river.
- Sinan Pasha Mosque: the 17th-century mosque that dominates the riverside.
- Dokufest: if you're visiting in August, the international documentary film festival fills the town with outdoor screenings.
Going further from Prizren
- Gjakova: about 55 minutes, €2.50–3.50, frequent buses on weekdays.
- Peja: only a few direct buses a day (about 2 h 15 min, €5). A shared ride or a change in Gjakova is often more flexible.
- Dragash: about an hour south into the mountains, €1.50.
