Ski Trip eSIM: Mobile Data in Bansko, Austria, Switzerland and Italy
Brezovica and Popova Shapka are close to home, but more and more people go further for skiing: Bansko in Bulgaria, Tyrol in Austria, the Swiss Alps or the Dolomites in Italy. All of these are outside the Western Balkans roaming zone, so a SIM from Kosovo, Albania or North Macedonia pays roaming there. An eSIM costs less than a hot chocolate on the slopes.

Phone tips for the slopes
- Cold kills batteries. Keep the phone in an inside pocket, close to your body, and carry a small power bank.
- Save the emergency numbers. 112 works across Europe. Most resorts also have a mountain rescue number on the lift pass or piste map.
- Download the piste map and offline maps. Coverage is good on most slopes, but it drops in some valleys and off-piste.
- Share your location with your group in WhatsApp or Google Maps so you can find each other at the end of the day.
- Resort apps show live lift status, snow and weather, and often sell lift passes cheaper online.
