eSIM Installed but No Internet? A Travel Troubleshooting Checklist

You have installed your travel eSIM, but a map or message still will not load. Work through these checks in order, ideally while connected to Wi-Fi. Keep the eSIM installed while you investigate.

1. Check the destination and plan

Open your order details and confirm that your current country is included, the plan is active and data remains. Installation and activation are different: the validity period may start at installation or at the first connection, depending on the package. Follow the instructions for your specific purchase.

2. Select the travel line for data

In your phone's SIM or mobile network settings, enable the travel eSIM and select it for mobile data. On a phone with two lines, a signal indicator alone does not prove that the right line is supplying internet. Keep data roaming off on your home line and disable automatic mobile data switching if you want to prevent it from using data.

3. Follow the roaming and APN instructions

Some travel eSIMs require data roaming on their own line. Enable it when your provider instructs you to. This setting is separate from roaming on your home SIM. If your installation instructions specify an APN, enter that exact value; do not copy settings from an unrelated plan.

4. Let the phone reconnect

Turn airplane mode on for about 30 seconds, then turn it off. If needed, restart the phone. Try somewhere with a stronger signal and test with Wi-Fi off. Use manual network selection only with the networks listed by your provider.

5. Contact support before deleting anything

If the connection still fails, send support your order reference, phone model, current country and screenshots of the relevant settings. Hide private codes. Do not publish your QR code or activation details. Removing an eSIM may require the provider to issue a replacement.
